BEIJING, 24 February - Sascha Klein (GER) stopped China's gold rush winning the men't 10m platform final by beating two strong Chines divers at National Aquatics Center on Sunday.

Klein started strongly, receiving a perfect 10 from one judge for an Inward three and a half Somersault in Tuck position (DD 3.2). He elected a more difficult dive than his second round one in the semifinals and executed, a Forward four and a half Somersault in Tuck position (DD3.5), he scored 98.00 points from the dive.

World No.1 ranked diver in this event, Zhou Luxin (CHN) answered with an excellent dive, Armstand Back triple Somersault in Pike position (DD 3.5) in the third round, scoring 105.00 points and getting to the top rung.

The German would not give up and took the lead agam in the fourth round and dived for gold in the last round, a Back two and a half Somersault with two and a half Twists in Pike position (DD 3.8), receiving his best score of the session, 108.30 points, and finishing with a total score of 566.85 points.

Zhou couldn't touch Klein's fine performance in the last round - he made a little splash on entry in the last dive, a Reverse three and a half Somersault in Tuck position (DD 3.4) and finished second at 543.40.

David Boudia of United States performed consistently throughout the session and netted bronze with a total score of 526.65 points. For the 18-year-old, the bronze marks his first individual medal at a major international competition.

One of the hot favourites of this event, Lin Yue (CHN) struggled with his performance over the initial two sessions and was seeded tenth to the final. Ranked world No.2 in this event, Lin was nowhere near his top form tonight and finished fourth at 521.05.

13-year-old boy wonder from Great Britain, Thomas Darley entertained the crowds with his fine performance in the final. He squandered a medal chance due to a mistake in his fourth dive, an Armstand Back triple Somersault in Tuck position (DD3.2), scoring 46.40 points, and finished seventh at 480.40.

Chinese pair Wu Minxia and Guo Jingjing (CHN) re-established their country's dominance in the sport and took the last gold on offer when they won the women's 3m springboard synchro final with a total score of 362.10 points. They built a lead from the first round by an excellent performance, receiving one 10 from the judges. The reigning Olympic Champion pair in this event continued their flawless performance and exquisite synchronization until the end and they summed up the session with an impressive dive, a Back two and a half Somersault in Pike position (DD 3.0), snatching one 10 for their execution and three 10s for their synchronization.

Julia Pakhalina (RUS) and Anastasia Pozdnykova of Russia earned silver at 329.61. They dived solidly in all five rounds. This Russian pair stood on the medal podium on all legs of the 2007 World Series (2nd at Sheffield, 3rd at Mexico City and 2nd at Nanjing) in last September.

Ariel Rittenhouse and Kelci Bryant (USA) finished third with 322.50 points. The American pair won silver in this event at the 2006 World Cup in Changshu, China.
