(Beijing, 24 Feb.) - Comments from Ariel Rittenhouse (USA), Kelci Bryant (USA), Nora Subschinski (GER), Katja Dieckow (GER) and Sharleen Stratton (AUS) after the women's synchronised 3m springboard preliminaries at the National Aquatics Center.
Ariel Rittenhouse (USA) - 2nd place
On why she chose diving:
"I like water but I think swimming is boring. I just enjoy everything about diving."
Kelci Bryant (USA)
On their Chinese coach:
"He is a great coach. He applauds us after each dive and teaches us techniques similar to the Chinese."
On Asian athletes bowing to the audience:
"We think they bow to show their respect to the audience, coaches and judges. If we are asked to do so by our country, we will."
On their expectation for the finals:
"We will have fun and enjoy ourselves."
On their entry (causing high splash):
"We will be tighter and execute each dive more precisely. So in the finals, this will be better."
Nora Subschinski (GER)
On diving's influence in her life:
"I have made lots of friends through all my training and competitions and I have broadened my horizons. It is a great and helpful choice for me."
On the music:
"Generally speaking, I love music of all kinds, especially hip-hop. After each dive, a brief musical piece is played in the venue but I found them a little dull and limited."
Katja Dieckow (GER)
On her education:
"Currently, I am studying for a biology diploma at Martin Luther University. Somebody may say that understanding biology will help us to dive better. However, in my opinion, this is not true. I chose biology just because I like exploring the secrets of life."
On her hobbies:
"I like computers, but I am just an amateur. I love reading novels and do not care whether in English or German, I just get some enjoyment from the literature. Besides I love R & B, especially listening to it between my dives. "
Sharleen Stratton (AUS)
On her starting position:
"My right arm is a little higher than my left arm when I start. It helps me get better balance."
