

(Beijing February 23) In the men's 10m platform preliminaries of the "Good Luck Beijing" 2008 16th FINA Diving World Cup held this afternoon, China's Zhou Luxin scored 515.35 to come first as his teammate Lin Yue trailed by 13.50 to be second and Matthew Mitcham of Australia stood third.
Of the 47 divers competing in the event, Britain's Thomas Daley collected 86.70 on a 5253B to lead the first round. German Sascha Klein fell 1.90 behind and China's Lin and Zhou placed third and fourth tandem.
In the second round, Cuban Jose Guerra did a good job on a 207B with a degree of difficulty of 3.6 to rank first, 10.20 points ahead of Thomas Daley. Zhou Luxin went up to third by making 81.60 in 5253B, but his compatriot Lin fell to eighth due to an error in the performance of inward 3 and a half somersaults.
Thomas Daley made 75.20 on 407C in the third round and dropped to sixth while Jose Guerra produced a better flight via the same dive for 84.80 to keep ahead. Zhou Luxin's 85.75 made him stay third.
In the fourth, Zhou came atop the group thanks to a 207B dive which was worth of 88.20. Matthew Mitcham gained 86.70 on 307C, moving up to second, followed by Sascha Klein. China's Lin Yue was sixth.
Three 10s were given by ten judges to Lin for his performance of 307C and the Chinese added 98.60 to sit in third after five rounds.
The final round was marked by Jose Guerra's finals-high 102.60 points with his 5255B, a massive 3.8 degree of difficulty. But the top three were stable as Zhou and Lin of China scored 96.90 and 91.80 respectively to stand atop the list.
German Sascha Klein, Brit Thomas Daley, Cuban Jose Guerra and American Thomas Finchum also cruised into the semifinals slated for tomorrow morning.
