
(Beijing, 22 February) - Chinese team is aiming to pocket another gold at the 16th FINA Diving World Cup when their platform specialists, Lin Yue (CHN) and Huo Liang (CHN) dive for gold in the men's 10m platform synchro at National Aquatics Center on Friday. Chinese sensational diving queen, Guo Jing jing also kicks off her campaign to collect the World Cup medal when she participates in the women's 3m preliminaries.
Men's 10m Platform Synchro
Favourites:
Lin Yue (CHN) and Huo Liang (CHN) are clear favourites in this event. The Chinese pair has won a number of major international titles in this event, including the 2007 World Championships in Melbourne, Australia and all legs in the World Series (Sheffield, Mexico City and Nanjing).
David Boudla (USA) and Thomas Finchum (USA) won bronze in this event. Both of them are 17 years old and are training under the same coach, John Wingfield at National Training Center, Indianapolis, the United States. They showed their good match at the 2007 Pan American Games where they won the title in this event.

Robert Newbery and Matthew Helm of Australia claimed bronze in this event at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. They once retired but came back to pool in mid-2007. This competition will be their first major international competition since the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia.
Women's 3m springboard
Favourites:
Diving diva Guo Jing Jing (CHN) is the hottest favourite. She won gold in this event at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece and also claimed title at the World Championships four times in a row (Fukuoka 2001, Barcelona 2003, Montreal 2005 and Melbourne 2007).
Guo'a Synchro partner, Wu Minxia (CHN) is looking for snatching title in individual event. Wu was a silver medalist in this event at Melbourne 2007, however has won gold at the 2006 Grand Pnx Super Final in Mexico City, Mexico.

Two-time Olympian Blythe Hartley (CAN) is a springboard specialist and has won medals at major international events in her career, including a gold medal in springboard at the 2006 World Championships in Montreal, Canada. She recently won silver in this event at the 2008 Grand Prix in Madrid, Spain.
