Beijing, 21 Feb - Comments from He Chong (CHN), Qin Kai (CHN) and Yahel Castillo (MEX) after the men's 3m springboard finals at the National Aquatics Center.
He Chong (CHN) - Gold Medalist
On his performance:
"I am in better shape than in the Semifinals. The Semifinals were a long slog, and everyone made small mistakes."
On his feeling:
"I am happy to win the gold, but I feel sorry for not being able to spend the Lantern Festival with my parents. I want to thank the whole audience here. They really supported me a lot."
On his impression of the event:
"It was really hard for me to obtain this gold medal, because I had been looking forward to it since 2005. I could hardly keep calm before the competition, because I like to show off. However, I was able to improve after a lot of training. In the future, I must learn to control the pace of the competition."
On Qin Kai (another Chinese diver):
"He is my old rival, but he made some mistakes in the competition. It was really hard for China to get both the gold and slyer medal. I congratulate him."
On his achievements in the competition:
"All the divers tonight made some mistakes. The key to success is how well one adjusts mentally to those mistakes. The dive appreciated most is the last one. It was executed after some minor mistakes."
On the winter training:
"The national team trained very hard during its winter trainings during which time was held a national Olympic selection. Today's result shows the result of our training."
Qin Kai (CHN) - Silver Medalist
On his performance:
"My performance was average because I felt a little nervous under such pressure."
On his achievements:
"After some mistakes, I still succeeded in getting control of my last two dives. In my opinion, the most important thing is not to become champion, but to discover some new things through the competition. I acquired many new elements today which -I had never experienced."
Yahel Castillo (MEX) - Bronze Medalist
On his performance:
"I am happy to have a chance to be here and to win a medal in the Olympic venue. It has always been a dream for me."
On the Chinese divers:
"I admire the Chinese divers, they train really hard. I don't think I will ever be able to challenge them directly."
On climbing the ranks:
"I didn't aim to defeat Despatie. I just focused on doing my best for each dive."
On his last dive:
"I didn't feel much stress in the last round, I Just wanted to enjoy it, Actually, I felt very good during that dive. I have been practicing it for four months and I always hit it best during competition. In fact, during training, my movements on this dive were not always satisfactory."
On the Chinese competitors:
"They're always the best. I have to work really hard to catch up with them."
